YEF – Tell us a bit about yourself and your background?

Amanjot – I am the startup guy, in the past 4 years i have worked with more than 5 startups, founded a product company i.e. Partiko( and a mobile app development services based company i.e. Actiwate( Worked across sectors and with different management teams. All this experience in such a short time has taught me a lot about starting up, managing and scaling a startup.

YEF – Why an entrepreneur, y not a high paying job?

Amanjot – In my third and fourth year I was involved with multiple startups learning the basics of the ecosystem, but after my grad school I went with my campus placement into solar sector. Worked there for 3 months and things were going south each day. Although the pay was good but I did`not like the work there. At that point i realized that that was the best point to take the startup risk. So, i joined a early stage startup in Noida and plunged into the startup ecosystem

YEF -What inspired you to start your own businesses?

Amanjot -The startup I was working with had a fundamental problem and it was not growing at a rapid pace, also I was unable to implement my ideas there, and when this happens a person is not learning at the pase one wants to and gets frustrated. This instigated a series of events that led me to start something of my own which i had been working on. In this way Partiko was founded

YEF – What is your company into and what problem does it solve?

Amanjot -Partiko App is a last minute events discovery and booking marketplace for the spontaneous buying users in the metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore etc.

Currently events discovery and categorization is quite random in the metropolitan cities and even if a person is able to find the events they have to make lot of effort to book their place in the event. As the time in hand is becoming less and less for everyone, we have simplified the process of discovering and booking events

Also the ticketing platform close ticketing before a day or considerable time before the actual event, which results in unsold inventory of tickets. It causes lot of loses to the event organizers

Partiko with its unique mobile app is trying to create a smooth the event organizer to sell their unsold tickets to their users till the last moment and earn money.

YEF – Tell us more about your brand name?

Amanjot – Partiko was named as Partiko Co.(Company) as we were initially focusing on just the nightlife and music events, but eventually we have grown to become a one-stop solution for each category of events.

YEF – How did the idea for your company come about?

Amanjot – I was working in an operationally intensive startup with lot of excels and ppts and we were doing lot of stuff the orthodox way (although I never wanted to). On the other hand I wanted to try some growth hacks but i was not given a platform. I started discovering idea that suited a more marketing and less operational work and I found out that there is a sector in events where there is a big gap between the event organizers and the attendees and also lot of stuff is done manually. This is what inspired me to startup.

YEF – What are key services you are providing which are differentiator from the rest?

Amanjot – We are offering Online ticketing and marketing solution to the event organizers and for the users we have a personalized feed of events which customized according to tags, browsing history, booking history etc for better recommendations.

YEF – What is the pricing strategy and marketing strategy you have been using?

Amanjot – We have been using a very smart freemium model which helps us acquiring users and not running any advertisements at all

YEF – How’s the business going on and who are your key clients?

Amanjot – Our focus is still on the product and building it on all the other important platforms like the web and iOS, then we will be focusing on our clients. For us the clients who organize frequent events are very important as we are focusing on local events for a start

YEF – Your current target regions and future plans?

Amanjot – Delhi NCR is our current target region and we will soon shift to Mumbai and Bangalore in the coming months

YEF – What do you think are the most important factors that will make your company a success?

Amanjot – Solving the chicken-egg problem of users and partners. We need to reach a decent scale to become profitable.

YEF – Who are your role models?

Amanjot – Zomato and Myntra are two companies that i look upto, both have done lot of innovation in their respective sectors and have really focused on design of their product. These two companies are expanding into international canvas which a proud moment for any Indian

YEF – What words of advice would you give to other young entrepreneurs?

Amanjot – Do more in a day and learn more in a day, because the more you do the more you know and more chances of success will be there.
