YEF – Tell us a bit about yourself and your background?

Suruchi – Cofounder & CEO, Have done MBA in Finance & Marketing from Bangalore University and has played several roles in multinational financial service company like Ernst & Young , Northern Trust for more than 7 years.

Have run an ecommerce venture , thecatchy.com, online platform for Bolllywood Replica products for close to an year.

YEF – Why an entrepreneur, y not a high paying job?

Suruchi – The joy of owning something and starting from scratch , living with the dream of making it a huge success comes only from Entrepreneurship.A High paying Job is always attractive in terms of remuneration while there is no inner satisfaction of doing something on our own in any Job.

YEF – What inspired you to start your own businesses?

Suruchi – The logistics issues faced in my previous venture, thecatchy.com ideated the need for a full proof logistics support for any ecommerce business. Hence Vlokal came into the picture as an ecommerce enabler to support ecommerce business in all possible ways in terms of providing Strategic hubs,Customer support,Tech support and logistics.

YEF -What is your company into and what problem does it solve?

Suruchi – vLokal enables ecommerce through strategic hubs, integrated customer care and hyper local deliveries. We integrate partner ecommerce platform into our smart IT systems through an API to provide white label customer care and fulfilment. vLokal handles complete life cycle of customer interaction, pickup, drop, cash on delivery etc., for the partners. Our innovative model helps the ecommerce partners to save cost and achieve levels of customer satisfaction and retention.

YEF – Tell us more about your brand name?

Suruchi – Vlokal started in December 2015 and have attracted all the big Laundry Market players like Housejoy, Doormint,Laundry Anna,Laundry Basket,Laundromat,Coins etc as well as Food segment and Hospitality segments players like OYO Rooms etc.We have achieved considerable success in a short span of time. We did 30,000 deliveries within 4 months of launch and acquired some of the leading ecommerce players as our partners.We have raised funding from Angel Investor Pavan Kumar who has invested in successful startups like NewsBytes, PindropMusic, iLenze, Brewz&Greenz etc.. In addition to funding, we gain through his mentoring and guidance to scale the business. The funding has helped us to expand our strategic hubs in Bangalore and become pan Bangalore player. We are also adding resources in IT, Operations and delivery.

YEF – How did the idea for your company come about?

YEF – What is the pricing strategy and marketing strategy you have been using?

Suruchi – We have a simplified revenue model of charging ecommerce partners per delivery.

1.Based on Type of Order- Scheduled/ On Demand Service ( Lesser for Scheduled and higher for On Demand)

2.Based on Weight of the consignment (Fixed upto a certain weight and Variable thereafter)

3.Based on Distance (Fixed upto a certain distance and Variable thereafter)

YEF – How’s the business going on and who are your key clients?

Suruchi – Business is scaling great with a good traction and we are very close to break even from the 3rd month of operations. Have achieved 30 % growth in orders every month and have acquired biggest players in the market.

Clients-Housejoy, Doormint, Oyo Room, LaundryAnna, Laundry Basket, Laundromat, Coins,Thindipotha,Just Bake,Baba Fattoosh,Flora etc.

YEF – Your current target regions and future plans?

Suruchi – Our immediate plans is to acquire more ecommerce partners, open additional strategic hubs and increase our field force. We are constantly acquiring ecommerce players and expanding our business. We plan to promote our model in startup events and are actively looking for Series­ A investment.

The success of our business model is helping us to draw ambitious plans to grow across India. We are targeting other tier­1 and tier­2 cities in the next few quarters.We are also signing up new ecommerce partners and intend to reach over 300 by the end of the year. Based on data analytics and Consumer presence, we will add more strategic hubs during the year. Our aim is to be cross 10,000 fulfillment per day in 2016. On the technology front, we will soon introduce data analytics and upselling platform to our partners.
